Charlotte Angels is a foster care non-profit that was created to help empower children and build sustainable foster homes. They are a community of people that walk alongside foster children and their caretakers by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building and mentorship. Their solution to the foster care crisis are the Love Box family support program and Dare to Dream youth mentor programs. Their programs utilize a trauma-informed, wrap-around service model that strengthens relationships between foster families, youth in foster care, and bio families.
They are always looking for more giving volunteers- please sign up to donate your time and help this amazing cause! Their volunteers are everyday people who meet practical needs while spending quality time with the whole family building positive community. They want to connect people who are passionate about making a difference in the foster care community to their most vulnerable children and youth who have experienced neglect and abuse and the selfless parents who care for them.
Love Box Leader/Group: Individuals and group volunteers are matched with a local family. Each month, the volunteers pack needed items, thoughtful gifts, and personal notes into a “Love Box” and deliver to their family. The delivery is an opportunity to build relationships with the children by playing games, sharing a meal, reading together…all things that kids that need to feel loved. Volunteers must be over the age of 16, commit to visiting the family at least once a month, complete a thorough background check, sign a confidentiality waiver through Charlotte Angels, and complete a one-hour training with a Charlotte Angels case manager.
Dare to Dream Mentor: Dare to Dream mentors are passionate volunteers that mentor and support youth in foster care. Mentors participate in a one-on-one year long (or longer!) relationship with youth with the hopes of fostering independent living skills and creating hope in the youth. Mentors commit to meeting at least 2 times a month, must be 22 or older, complete a thorough background check, and attend a two-hour training with a Charlotte Angels case manager.
