John and I stopped in thinking we'd do a quick tasting, and we ended up staying for hours enjoying the wine plus a great meal and getting to know the extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Here's everything you need to know about this must-visit winery.

Together, Dane and Mckenzie have produced 31 vintages of wine and millions of cases internationally in both corporate and family owned wineries. Untamed was the product of their experiences, a state-of-the-art wine production facility in the heart of Texas.

A Diverse Selection of Wines
Untamed was built with the intention to showcase a variety of exceptional wines and wine making styles. To meet this goal, they had to search outside of Texas to find the optimal growing conditions for many of these varietals.
Their first vintage (2018) showcases two varietals from Russian River Valley, an exceptional grape-growing region of Sonoma County. Dane and McKenzie have years of experience working with grapes in this location, and knew it would be a marvelous production of bold reds.
The current selection of wines are grown in Monterey, California. Monterey’s climate, soil, and location make for perfect growing conditions and produce award winning fruit.
The vineyards are family run, small lot, and sustainably grown operations. Each vineyard demonstrates quality, and each vintage is always hand-harvested.
When John and I visited Untamed, we shared the red and white tasting and were blown away! I am not typically a white wine lover, but their Fume Blanc is one that I'd indulge in during these hot Texas summer months! Of the reds, the Sangiovese and Cabernet were top of list. Honestly, there was not one that I didn't like, though!
We were also treated with a sampling of their bubbles...my favorite! The Blanc de Blancs (brut) and Sparkling Pinot Noir Rosé were both some of the best sparkling I've ever tasted. We will absolutely be serving these at dinner parties!
You Won't Leave Hungry
At Untamed Winery, the commitment to freshness is palpable. They take pride in preparing everything to order on-site, from scrumptious appetizers to delicious wood fired pizzas.
To start, John and I ordered the shishito peppers which were blistered to perfection and were topped with goat cheese and micro greens, a perfect blend of flavors. We also stepped out of our comfort zone and ordered a non-conventional pizza, South African Summer: Prosciutto, bacon, banana, peppadews. Yes, you read that right. Bananas. On pizza! And it was so good! The gluten free crust is unmatched. It was so good that we thought they gave us the regular crust!
