Your home tells a story, your story, and working with an interior designer can help you tell yours.
One of our favorite projects to date is a historic bungalow in the Dilworth area of Charlotte, NC. Like many of our clients, this sweet couple had an appreciation for antiques and vintage items, but didn’t want a traditional styled home. They looked to Hayden Home Studio to help them achieve something unique, creative and intriguing while investing in quality pieces to create the feel-good space they were looking for.
The first ingredient in our secret sauce is using items our clients already have that represent who they are and where they’ve been. From there we mix in new treasures we find. This bungalow is a great example of this. New lighting, in the way of a rattan chandelier and modern sconces give the room formality. The new dining table, original artwork, fresh accessories and textiles paired with the existing reupholstered settee and client’s existing drapery pull the space together.
In the dining room we designed and installed new board and batten wainscoting appropriate for the era of the home with a beautiful pink wall color from Farrow & Ball. The second ingredient in our secret sauce is our process. Our consultation gives us the foundation to build our client’s design by identifying their style and personal aesthetic needs and wants. From there we establish a timeline that includes a number of touch points and design drafts to ensure we get the design just right.
This came into play when discussing what pieces to choose. Our client was able to select from samples for the new transitional rug, coffee table and accessories that give the living room a comfortable elegance and aesthetic. The process ensured the spaces feels fresh and new but actually used many of their existing pieces.
The last ingredient is our hands-on styling and staging sessions once all pieces for the project arrive. This is where the magic happens and when we fully achieve a Hayden Home Studio designed space. Each shelf is styled, accessory placed, and element thought through. In this Dilworth project, we worked in her space with her current items and a few new pieces to finish this project. They got their “wow” moment and we got the high fives and hugs at the end. That is our favorite part!
